Have you met Corky? Please, let me introduce you.

Ever since creating this blog of my very own, I am consciously thinking and processing everything I do or encounter to see if it is "blog" worthy. It's so funny how you want everyone to know everything that occurs in your life or whatever it is that you think or do. Now that I feel as though I have waited the adequate amount of time in between posts it is now time for me to post my first official topic.

What to choose??

There's always my past...

Then there's school...

Or we could do down the path's of relationships??

But I don't think I want to start with any one of those. I think I want to start with this little girl...

This little girl is my wonderful, and beautiful sister, Leah. I am her sissy and her Corky. She is 3 years old and my pride and joy. Before her I was the youngest of three, now she is the youngest of four, with 20 years between her and I. You can definitely say she was not expected or planned for, but adopted.

Through certain situations and circumstances, her precious life was placed in our custody for a temporary time and that "temporary time" became a permanent family. Everyone in my family loved and embraced her, especially my mom. With the new found sound of little feet running through their house again and calls of "Mommy!" and "Poppy!" (what she calls my dad) they have found themselves as parents once again. I can guarantee that they love every minute of it but I have never experienced what I am experiencing with Leah before.

I have never played the role of big sissy, just little sissy. And let me tell you, I LOVE IT!!! Yes, I am an instigator, and we laugh and are loud more times than most but that's what sisters do. :)

I do not live at home any more, but have my own place near college, about three hours away. So when I come home to visit, I sleep with her in her "big girl bed". She has her routine every night before going to sleep and that is to sit in your lap or lay next to you while she slides her hand up your sleeve scratching your arm lightly. She has done this ever since we have had her and it never ceases. Sometimes my mom gets annoyed with it but I love to feel her little fingers try and wrap around my arm that is twice the size of her palm.

She loves fruits and vegetables of all kinds and that is mind boggling to us all because most children now a days only prefer chicken nuggets and french fries. As you can see, tomatoes are her favorite. She prefers to eat them like apples.

She loves to read, even though she can't. She will make up a story and you will have no idea what she is saying. Regardless, it is adorable and you could sit and listen to her talk for hours.

This little girl has added so much more to my wonderful life God has already blessed me with and I couldn't imagine it without her.

Now you may be asking, what does a 3 yr old that your parents adopted have to do with you finding the woman within you? Good question. Well first off, I think Miss Leah was put in my life to see where she came from. Believe or not, she stumbled into our lives because of a ministry my mom started. Her life I believe is to help me always remember God has a calling for me in some way or within some ministry to better his people. Two, I have health issues of my own and in the process of doctor visits and check ups I have to explore the option of children in my future through other means than biologically. So to know that adoption leads to such a wonderful reward, even if they aren't blood related, is spectacular. God only knows what purpose Leah serves in my life, but I do know right now she serves as a sister, daughter and aunt and I serve as her Corky.
